46th birthday for Zonta

Members celebrated its 46th birthday at the March meeting of the Zonta Club of Fleurieu Peninsula.

Current members, president Jane Bohnsack and Marg Dent, both inaugural members were present.

Digital display screens courtesy of Shed-Ex recognised this achievement as well as highlighting some of Zonta’s recent projects.

As March 8 celebrated International Women’s Day and Zonta Rose Day, members watched an on-screen address from International Governor Ute Scholz.

Jane and Lindsey also reported on the Afternoon Tea held at Port Elliot RSL on Friday, March 15, organised by Bronwyn Lewis from Australian Local Government Women’s Association.

After the meal, Leann Symonds was thrilled to introduce guest speaker, Mel Palmer, an accomplished speaker with over two decades of experience inspiring individuals and businesses.

Mel’s dedication to aiding others in discovering their passion, coupled with her personal triumph over domestic violence and trauma, is truly empowering.

Her journey symbolises resilience and she firmly believes in the power of shared experiences to ignite positive change and healing.

After the general business meeting, Christine Trenorden gave her report on the importance of action for climate change and invited members to share any new measures they have found to reduce their contribution to climate change/impact on the planet.

One member spoke about her decision to choose clothing made from natural fibres to reduce waste harmful to the environment.
