Championing locally made

In a bid to boost Victor Harbor’s manufacturing market, the team at Victor-based trailer manufacturers, Egritech have collaborated for the first time with internationally renowed chainsaw company, Stihl, to design and manufacture five trailers that showcase Stihl’s new cordless range.

Currently, exports outside Victor Harbor equate to 95 per cent of Egritech’s overall business, aligning the trailer manufacturer with the City of Victor Harbor’s vision to attract business and employment beyond tourism.

Egritech officially launched the five new trailers on June 3 at Stihl on Waterport Road.

Valued at $60,000 each, local signage business, Stork Signs were also engaged to create an external skin for the newly designed trailers, adding a nice local touch to this national initiative.

Business Development Manager, Kylie Roberts said the five trailers will now be distributed across Australia – one in each state.

“The trailers were originally to be built in Melbourne,” Ms Roberts said.

“It’s exciting that we get to be a part of building Victor Harbor’s manufacturing industry, bringing money to the region through something other than tourism.”

Egritech opened in 2019 and while small, with a team of just 10 staff, they’ve already stamped their footprint on the region’s business infrastructure.

Egritech owner, Tony Le Messurier said the trailer project flows nicely from Stihl’s revamping of their Victor Harbor shop, where new owner Dustin Gray has worked hard to understand local requirements.
